Educator Care

A MENTORSHIP PROGRAM DESIGNED TO TRAIN TEACHERS ON HOW TO BECOME EFFECTIVE MENTORS

The Educator Care professional development course meets the NYS recommended 15 hours of training to become a mentor to new teachers.

​

New York State requires all new teachers to receive 30 hours of mentoring for certification. This program is designed around the 10 NYS teacher mentor standards. Offering guidance to build a system of support to retain and help new educators thrive in the profession.

​

All teachers will receive a Certificate of Completion in accordance with the NYS guidelines and will be eligible to serve as mentors for their school upon completing this course. The Educator Care Teacher Mentor Program, provides entities such as schools and school districts, as well as mentors and mentees, a resource to navigate a pathway to develop, refine, and/or implement a robust and successful mentoring program.

This mentor program is specifically designed to empower teachers with the skills necessary to become effective mentors. Its goal is to support new teachers in their professional journey, fostering their growth and longevity in the education field.

  • Providing prospective mentors with the essential tools to guide new teachers in meeting the daily demands of their profession.

  • Empowering mentor teachers with knowledge, purpose, and a toolkit of strategies and techniques to effectively mentor their mentees.

​

Prospective mentor teachers will:

​

  • Become aware of the process of developing an effective mentor/mentee relationship within their school or district.

​

  • Understand the importance of evaluating a mentor program and making changes where needed.

​

  • Learn the purpose of such a program, its design, ideas and implementation strategies.
